WHO must complete this form? ALL Sacred Heart 8th graders

ALL Sacred Heart 8th graders, regardless of where they plan to attend high school, are required to complete a High School Selection Form by November 22, 2024. The form can be found on Power School:

1. Log in to the Power School Parent/Student Portal
2. Go to the Forms section
3. The High School Selection Form can be found in the "Student Information" section

All Sacred Heart 8th graders who are planning to apply to ANY of our local Catholic High Schools must complete a Confidential School Report - Transcript Request Form.

The following Seattle Catholic High Schools require applicants to take an entrance exam. You can register your student for the required exam on each school's website.

Holy Names Academy - TERRA NOVA

No entrance exam is being required by the other Seattle Catholic High Schools (Archbishop Murphy, Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle, Kennedy, O'Dea or St. Monica Catholic).

Entrance exam requirements vary from school to school.

Archbishop Murphy High School is seeking bright capable students who are excited about joining a small, dynamic learning community. We feel it is important to get to know your students. We are excited to invite 6th-8th grade students and their families to our Open House on Sunday, November 3rd, from 2-4 pm. This event is the perfect chance for prospective students to tour our campus, meet our dedicated faculty, and learn about our dynamic academic programs, athletics, and extracurricular offerings. We believe it will help them discover how Archbishop Murphy’s supportive and engaging environment can be the ideal place to thrive in high school.

Additionally, we encourage 8th grade students to experience a day in the life of an Archbishop Murphy Wildcat through our Shadow Day Program. Shadow Days give students the opportunity to partner with a current student, attend classes, and get a firsthand look at what it’s like to be part of our vibrant school community. BEAR FOR A DAY VISITS: Come check us out

8th grade students are invited to spend an entire day at Bishop Blanchet, which offers the best opportunity for students to experience, first-hand, student life here at BBHS. Parents may schedule a Bear for a Day visit now, for dates between late September and early January. Thank you for supporting your students in taking advantage of this opportunity.

 

BEAR ACCESS PASS: Be in the know

Our 2024-25 Bear Access Pass is available for 6th, 7th and 8th graders and has been mailed out to most of our Catholic partner middle school students and should have arrived to most families last week. Access Passes allow students to receive free swag, gain free admittance to BBHS on campus events throughout the year, enter raffles, learn more about what’s going on at Bishop Blanchet, and receive regular updates on important information and deadlines. Any student, at any school, who would like to be enrolled in our Bear Access Program can join our mailing list to receive a pass.

 

CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL VIRTUAL INFORMATIONAL NIGHT: Learn more 

Each of the local Catholic High Schools, including BBHS, will participate in a virtual informational evening from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25. This event will provide families the opportunity to meet students and school leaders and learn more about individual schools. Families must register in advance.

 

COFFEE AND TOUR FOR 8th GRADE PARENTS: Meet our Leadership Team

On Monday, October 7, Friday, November 1, and Tuesday, December 3 from 8:30-9:30 a.m., school President Tony DeSapio will be hosting an in person tour for interested 8th grade parents. Parents are asked to register in advance.

 

OPEN HOUSE: Experience all that BBHS has to offer

Our Open House will take place on Thursday, October 17 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Information regarding this event and a link to RSVP is available on our website. Middle school families will receive an email from us with specifics about Open House. To ensure they receive this important information families may provide their contact information to us by joining our mailing list.

 

HSPT: Take the placement test

We are offering two administrations of the High School Placement Test (HSPT) on campus at Bishop Blanchet, on Saturday, November 16 and Sunday, November 17. HSPT registration will be available on the BBHS website beginning in early October. Extra tutoring in preparation for this test is not encouraged. However, this is a timed test that requires students to fill in a bubble answer sheet (including personal data such as address). Any guidance on best practices you can offer your students would be helpful.

 

TRANSPORTATION: Ride the Bus to BBHS

BBHS offers private bus service to the Eastside, West Seattle, Capitol Hill, South Seattle, Magnolia, Queen Anne, and the North End. Please click here for more details. Additionally, there are several public transit routes that pass the school, with a Metro stop adjacent to our main entrance, and both the new Northgate and Roosevelt light rail stations are about a mile away from our campus.

 

APPLY: Applications are now being accepted!

Our online application is open and students and families can now apply for the 2025-2026 school year. The application deadline is Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Did you know that we award approximately $3 million in aid annually, and that 39% of our families receive some level of tuition assistance? Please note: the deadline to apply for tuition assistance for the 2025-2026 school year is December 31, 2024 - one week before the admissions application deadline.

How to Apply:

· Create an account in our Admissions Portal: Eastside Catholic School (fsenrollment.com)

· Submit application and pay $35 application fee

Once you’ve submitted your application, log back into your account to see and take steps to complete the remaining items on your child’s checklist:

· Have your child complete the student essay

· Register your student for an entrance exam (only ONE exam is needed)

· Register your student for a virtual student interview OR Crusader for a Day Visit

· Follow Sacred Heart School’s guidance for requesting the following:

o Teacher Evaluation

o Confidential School Report Form

o Math, English, and World Language Placement Recommendations

o School Records (Current and past two years’ report cards and MAP Score Reports).

Lancer Visit Days – a student shadow experience  Your students can become a Lancer for the day! We have a number of Lancer Visit Days where your 8th graders get to shadow a current student. Please email the Admissions Office if you would like to reserve a day for your 8th graders to attend a Lancer Visit Day together. Otherwise, students and families can register for a visit day below.

Seattle Archdiocese High School Information Night We welcome your families to meet the Seattle Archdiocese high schools for a virtual information session on September 25, 2024, from 6pm-7:30pm We will begin as a large group and then open breakout rooms for each school. At the event, families can decide to attend the school breakout rooms of their choice.

Panther for a Day Visit (October - December)

We invite 8th graders to experience Prep through a Panther for a Day visit. Coming on a Panther visit gives 8^th graders a chance to experience Prep by shadowing a Prep student. They will see classes, eat lunch, and meet other 8^th graders interested in Prep. Visits take place from October to December.  Registration for visits opens within the Prep admissions portal in September.

HSPT @ Prep

Prep requires applicants to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT). Prep uses placement test results as one piece of a holistic review of each application. The HSPT is an additional factor that helps with class placement. By virtue of being an 8^th grade student, applicants for freshmen year have already prepared for the exam. Please do not encourage applicants to spend money on expensive tutoring. Online registration for testing at Prep will open in October. The registration deadline is December 2. The registration deadline to test with accommodations is November 14.
