WHO must complete this form? ALL Sacred Heart 8th graders

ALL Sacred Heart 8th graders, regardless of where they plan to attend high school, are required to complete a High School Selection Form by November 1, 2023 (you can make updates/changes until November 28, 2023). The form can be found on Power School:

1. Log in to the Power School Parent/Student Portal

3. The High School Selection Form can be found in the "Student Information" section

All Sacred Heart 8th graders who are planning to apply to ANY of our local Catholic High Schools must complete a Confidential School Report - Transcript Request Form.

The following Seattle Catholic High Schools require applicants to take an entrance exam in 2023. You can register your student for the required exam on each school's website.

No entrance exam is being required by the other Seattle Catholic High Schools in 2023 (Archbishop Murphy, Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle, Kennedy, O'Dea or St. Monica Catholic).

Entrance exam requirements vary from school to school.

Archbishop Murphy High School is seeking bright capable students who are excited about joining a small, dynamic learning community. We feel it is important to get to know your students. BEAR FOR A DAY VISITS: Come check us out

8th grade students are invited to spend an entire day at Bishop Blanchet, which offers the best opportunity for students to experience, first-hand, student life here at BBHS. Parents may schedule a Bear for a Day visit now, for dates between late September and early January. Thank you for supporting your students in taking advantage of this opportunity.

 

BEAR ACCESS PASS: Be in the know

Our 2023-24 Bear Access Pass is available for 6th, 7th and 8th graders and has been mailed out to most of our Catholic partner middle school students and should be arriving soon. Access Passes allow students to receive free swag, gain free admittance to BBHS on campus events throughout the year, enter raffles, learn more about what’s going on at Bishop Blanchet, and receive regular updates on important information and deadlines. Any student, at any school, who would like to be enrolled in our Bear Access Program can join our mailing list to receive a pass.

 

CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL VIRTUAL INFORMATIONAL NIGHT: Learn more 

Each of the local Catholic High Schools, including BBHS, will participate in a virtual informational evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27. This event will provide families the opportunity to meet students and school leaders and learn more about individual schools. Families must register in advance.

 

COFFEE AND TOUR FOR 8th GRADE PARENTS: Meet our Leadership Team

On Tuesday, October 3, Thursday, November 9, and Wednesday, December 6 from 8:30-9:30 a.m., school President Tony DeSapio will be hosting an in person tour for interested 8th grade parents. Parents are asked to register in advance.

 

OPEN HOUSE: Experience all that BBHS has to offer

Our Open House will take place on Wednesday, October 18 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Information regarding this event and a link to RSVP is available on our website. Middle school families will receive an email from us with specifics about Open House. To ensure they receive this important information families, may provide their contact information to us by joining our mailing list.

 

HSPT: Take the placement test

We are offering two administrations of the High School Placement Test (HSPT) on campus at Bishop Blanchet, on Saturday, November 18 and Sunday, November 19. HSPT registration will be available on the BBHS website beginning in early October. Extra tutoring in preparation for this test is not encouraged. However, this is a timed test that requires students to fill in a bubble answer sheet (including personal data such as address). Any guidance on best practices you can offer your students would be helpful.

 

TRANSPORTATION: Ride the Bus to BBHS

BBHS offers private bus service to the Eastside, West Seattle, Capitol Hill, South Seattle, Magnolia, Queen Anne, and the North End. Please click here for more details. Additionally, there are several public transit routes that pass the school, with a Metro stop adjacent to our main entrance, and both the new Northgate and Roosevelt light rail stations are about a mile away from our campus.

 

APPLY: Applications are now being accepted

Our online application is open – and students and families can now apply for the 2024-2025 school year. The application deadline is Thursday, January 4, 2024. Did you know that we award approximately $3 million in aid annually, and that 39% of our families receive some level of tuition assistance? Please note: the deadline to apply for tuition assistance for the 2024-2025 school year is Sunday, December 31, 2023 - one week before the admissions application deadline.

 

SUBMITTING FORMS: It’s easier than ever

At Bishop Blanchet, we’ve fully migrated to an electronic application and evaluation system, but please know that we encourage you to complete and submit the required forms in a way that works best for you and your team. Teachers may:

1. Utilize the electronic Evaluation Form, share it among your team for input, and submit the completed form electronically. You may also download these forms as a PDF, which may then be shared with other Catholic high schools.

2. Submit a hard copy Evaluation Form, if that is your school’s preference - but please note that once a student submits an application, that student may request a Confidential Teacher Evaluation and Transcript Request Form to be emailed to you. Feel free to confirm with our team that we have received your hard copy submissions.

Future Crusader Nights – October 6 and October 18

Crusader for a Day Visits

We invite eighth graders to experience Eastside Catholic School by spending the day as a Crusader shadowing a current student. Visitors will experience an authentic and typical school day. Register for a Crusader for a Day Visit.

Registration is now open for both of our High School Open House events on Sunday, October 8 (2-4 p.m.) and Sunday, November 5 (2-4 p.m.) Register for an EC Open House.

 

Application Process for 2024-25 Admissions

Our online application is hosted through Ravenna. Attached are the Archdiocese of Seattle School Report and Teacher Evaluation Forms, which are required for students applying for admission to EC. We are happy to continue to accept these completed forms directly from your schools and request that completed forms be sent electronically through email. Documents can be emailed to schooldocs@eastsidecatholic.org. Alternatively, all forms can be completed online through Ravenna.

Entrance Exams

Eastside Catholic requires applicants to take any of the following entrance exams – only ONE exam is required. Applicants may take their exam on our campus or at other sites and request that scores be submitted to Eastside Catholic. Please choose the date and option that works best for your family.

HSPT (High School Placement Test) – We will host the HSPT on our campus on Saturday, November 4 at 9 a.m. Register for the HSPT at Eastside Catholic. 
ISEE – We will host the ISEE on our campus on Saturday, December 16 at 9 a.m. To register, please visit iseeonline.erblearn.org/search and select “Eastside Catholic School” from the Member dropdown field.
SSAT – We will host the SSAT on our campus on Saturday, October 14 at 9 a.m. To register please visit search.ssat.org/test-center-search and search “Eastside Catholic”.

Panther for a Day Visit:

We invite 8th graders to experience Prep through a Panther for a Day visit. Coming on a Panther visit gives 8^th graders a chance to see what it’s like by shadowing a Prep student. They will see classes, eat lunch, and meet other 8^th graders interested in Prep. Visits take place from October to December.

Admissions Online Process 2023-2024 

Prep has an online application. All application materials must be submitted electronically. This includes all teacher recommendations and supporting school documents. Supporting school documents can be sent to schooldocs@seaprep.org.   Teacher recommendations can be completed via Veracross or schools are welcome to complete and email the attached forms to schooldocs@seaprep.org.

HSPT

Prep requires applicants to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT). Prep uses placement test results as one piece of a holistic review of each application. The HSPT is an additional factor that helps with class placement at Prep. By virtue of being an 8^th grade student, applicants for freshmen year have already prepared for the exam. Please do not encourage applicants to spend money on expensive tutoring.

Prep will offer the HSPT on Saturday, December 2 and Sunday, December 3. Online registration for the HSPT will open in October.

• Online pre-registration for the Seattle Prep test dates must be completed by November 27. 
• Those who would like to apply to take the test with accommodations must complete the online pre-registration by November 14. 
• Applicants may take the exam at other sites throughout the Puget Sound area. All testing must take place before January 4, 2024 to ensure that results will arrive at Prep before the application deadline.
