High School Admissions - SHS Class of 2023

WHO must complete this form? ALL Sacred Heart 8th graders

ALL Sacred Heart 8th graders, regardless of where they plan to attend high school, are required to complete a High School Selection Form by November 1, 2022. The form can be found on Power School:

1. Log in to the Power School Parent/Student Portal
2. Go to the Forms section
3. The High School Selection Form can be found in the "Student Information" section

All Sacred Heart 8th graders who are planning to apply to ANY of our local Catholic High Schools must complete a Confidential School Report - Transcript Request Form.

The following Seattle Catholic High Schools require applicants to take an entrance exam in 2022. You can register your student for the required exam on each school's website.

Holy Names Academy - TERRA NOVA

No entrance exam is being required by the other Seattle Catholic High Schools in 2022 (Archbishop Murphy, Kennedy, or O'Dea).

Entrance exam requirements vary from school to school.

BEAR FOR A DAY VISITS - Check us out

Eighth grade students are invited to spend an entire day at Bishop Blanchet. Parents, schedule a Bear for a Day visit early as spots fill-up fast. These visits, which take place from late September to early January, are the best way for your child to really experience student life at Bishop Blanchet. 

BEAR ACCESS PASS - Be in the Know

Our Bear Access Pass is available for sixth, seventh and eighth graders. Access Passes will allow them to receive free swag, gain free admittance to BBHS on campus events, enter raffles, learn more about what’s going on at Bishop Blanchet, and receive regular updates on important information and deadlines. Your student may have already received a pass, but if not, anyone who signs up for  our mailing list will be enrolled in our 2022-2023 Bear Access Program.

8TH GRADE HOTSPOT - Connect with current students

The 8th grade HOTSPOT is the place where eighth graders can virtually check out information that is relevant to them. This includes some of our fun and informative videos and video introductions by our student ambassadors.  

OPEN HOUSE - Experience all that BBHS has to offer

Our Open House will take place on October 12 from 5:30-8 p.m. Information regarding this event and an  RSVP is available on our website. 

HSPT - Take the placement test

We are offering two administrations of the High School Placement Test (HSPT) on campus at Bishop Blanchet, on Saturday, November 19 and Sunday, November 20. HSPT registration will be available on the BBHS website beginning Friday, October 7.

TRANSPORTATION - Ride the Bus to BBHS

BBHS offers private bus service to the Eastside, West Seattle, Capitol Hill, South Seattle, Magnolia, Queen Anne, and the North End. Please click here for more details. Additionally, BBHS is near the new Northgate and Roosevelt Light Rail Stations.

Our application is open! Students and families can apply on our website here. The application deadline is January 5, 2023. Did you know that 39% of our families receive some level of tuition assistance? We give out approximately $3 million in aid annually. Please note the deadline to apply for tuition assistance for the 2023-24 school year is December 31, 2022, one week before the admissions application

Crusader for a Day Events

Panther for a Day Visit - September - December

We invite 8th graders to experience Prep through a Panther for a Day visit. Coming on a Panther visit gives 8^th graders a chance to see what it’s like by shadowing a Prep student. They will see classes, eat lunch, and meet other 8^th graders interested in Prep. Visits take place from September to December.

Registration will open in October.

HSPT

Prep requires applicants to take the HSPT (High School Placement Test). Prep uses placement test results as one piece of a holistic review of each application. The HSPT is an additional factor that helps with class placement at Prep. By virtue of being an 8^th grade student, applicants for freshmen year have already prepared for the exam. Please do not encourage applicants to waste money on expensive tutoring.

Prep will offer the HSPT on Saturday, December 3 and Sunday, December 4. Online registration for the HSPT will open in October.

• Online pre-registration for the Seattle Prep test dates must be completed by November 28. 
• Those who would like to apply to take the test with accommodations must complete the online pre-registration by November 15. 
• Applicants may take the exam at other sites throughout the Puget Sound area. All testing must take place before January 5, 2023 to ensure that results will arrive at Prep before the application deadline.
