Have you considered joining the alumni, parents, grandparents, and other benefactors in the Legacy Society who have included Sacred Heart School and Parish in their will or have named Sacred Heart School as a beneficiary of their life insurance? Your attorney or accountant can assist you with this highly impactful yet simple process.

Required Minimum Distributions

A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows individuals aged 70 1/2 or older to donate up to $105,000 annually from their traditional IRA directly to Sacred Heart School or Parish potentially reducing their taxable income. This can be a tax-advantaged way to fulfill required minimum distribution (RMD) obligations. It's important to seek assistance from your accountant or attorney when setting up your QCD for Sacred Heart School or Parish.

Key points about QCDs:

Age Requirement: You must be 70 1/2 or older to make a QCD.
Direct Transfer: The donation must be a direct transfer from your IRA to the Sacred Heart School or Parish; it cannot be a distribution to you first and then a donation.
Qualified Charities: Sacred Heart School and Parish are 501(c)(3) organizations and qualified to receive tax-deductible contributions. Our tax id number is 91-0595583.
RMD Impact: QCDs to Sacred Heart School or Parish can satisfy all or part of your RMD for the year, potentially lowering your taxable income.
Annual Limit: The maximum QCD amount for 2024 is $105,000.
Timing: While QCDs can be done before your RMD is required, it's crucial to understand the "first-dollars-out" rule to ensure the QCD is properly treated as such.
